Dog Days of Summer and the Pooch Parade

This post has been brought over from my old blog site.

On the first Friday of each month, downtown Lakeland, FL has planned events.  This past Friday was all related to the Dog Days of Summer, which included a pet parade.

Many vendors were set-up with displays – AKC, Invisible Fence, the Polk County Sheriff (We LOVE LOVE LOVE Grady Judd!) K-9 unit, the Lakeland Winter Haven Kennel ClubLasting Paws which is a pet cremation company (I know – who wants to think about that, but we’ve needed that service in the past with a puppy that was really sick. They are extremely compassionate, kind and they really do a nice job.), Southern Homes (we built our house with them), and food vendors.  They had bowls of water set out for the dogs and one vendor even had a kiddie pool so that the dogs could cool off, and a tunnel that they could go through, along with many other vendors.  There was a small car show, bounce house, some radio stations, and live entertainment.

There were tons of fantastic dogs and their owners.  It was great to socialize with people who have a common bond with you – we all love our dogs.  Here are a few pictures from the event.  I had my hands full with dogs, so I wasn’t able to take any pictures myself.  Below is a pic of my husband and I and our four dogs. One is hiding behind the bench.   – All photos courtesy of Susan Cook –
