We stopped by to check out Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area
while in the Daytona area. It’s got full sun camping. About 1/2 the sites are right on the water, the other 1/2 have bushes/fields behind them which separates them from A1A (the main road). The water sites that have an actual view of the ocean are the sites between 13 and 23 (odd numbers).
You need to take a board walk to get to the ocean and they’ve got a few overlooks. I saw one restroom/shower that’s only for one person at a time (I think there’s one for men and one for ladies – I could be wrong – can’t remember.). I think there was another set of restrooms just outside the camping area gate for those who are just visiting the beach.
View of the ocean from one of the overlooks:
Across the road (A1A), the park continues. This is where the ranger station is and where you check in to camp. This side of the road also has hiking, fishing, etc. Many activities to do at this park.
