Best pizza around!
UPDATE 5/22/12: SEVERAL FL LOCATIONS HAVE BEEN CLOSED. THE ONES THAT ARE STILL OPEN ARE OUT TOWARDS KISSIMMEE AND ORLANDO. THIS CHAIN ORIGINATED IN THE CHICAGOLAND AREA, SO YOU CAN ALSO FIND LOCATIONS THERE.
We’re originally from Chicago. Now, New Yorker’s might beg to differ, but Chicago’s got the best food and pizza there is to offer.
We were so excited when we found out a few years ago that one of our favorite Chicago pizza places was opening up in Florida – and close enough for us to drive to – Giordano’s. Now they’ve got several locations with more opening up. They’re only located in Chicago, it’s suburbs and Florida.
All ingredients are shipped from Chicago so that it’s just as authentic as if you were getting it in Chicago. All their food is good, but if you go here, you have to try their famous stuffed pizza.
Many (if not all) of the Florida locations usually have a weekly special. At the location in Brandon, it’s on Wednesdays. 1/2 price Wednesdays. The one’s in Port Ritchie and Tampa are on Tuesdays. They make their food fresh. Stuffed pizza’s take 45 minutes to make. You can call them ahead of time and have it ready for when you arrive.
The whole place is decorated with Chicago memorabilia. It’s pretty cool. I always say, “I remember that.” or “I was there.”
I have to share a quick story. One day quite a while back, my husband and I went to Giordano’s. We had a few slices left over. We brought it home and wrote on the box “Warning! Dog Poop” so that the boy’s wouldn’t look at it, let alone eat it. Are we mean or what? This is a cherished commodity in our family. Although it is in driving distance, it’s still about a 45 min drive, so we don’t get there that often.
Update: April 30, 2011 – We went to the one in Orlando the other day. Here are some pictures:
