Joy Ride Part I
My husband is a new man! He wants to surprise me, so on his days off, so he researches new places for us to explore. This particular places that we went during our Joy Ride, actually took place a little over a month ago – before the off-roading adventures. It was a rainy day to start, but all-in-all it was very nice.
We drove a little outside of Boulder and stopped a few times. We were on Hwy 36 and then turned on Left Hand Canyon Dr. The first place we stopped (for me to use the restroom) was Buckingham Park where there is hiking. I’d love to head back there some day!
We then drove on the steepest maintained road in the country and headed to the old gold rush town of Gold Hill.
This is the museum, but it was closed the day that we were there:
We stopped to have lunch at one of the two places that were in town, Gold Hill General Store and Cafe.
Lunch was a little more expensive than I would have thought, but it was good. We each got a BBQ Beef sandwich with chips ($9/ea.) and then a drink.
At this time it was starting to thunder and lightning, so I just jumped out for one more shot of the town.
A couple more shots on the road:
We drove through a small town named Ward. The first image gave me a chuckle – read the sign to the right:
This next image will lead you to believe that the playground is overgrown. At first that’s what I thought until I walked around. It’s actually very well kept.
The rain started letting up as we continued on our Joy Ride. Part II to come soon.
